The activity of the Tungurahua presents always explosions qualified by the IGEPN of small to moderate on Aug. 15. Although the volcano is permanently hidden by clouds, the lookouts reported drops of incandescent blocks at night, windows vibrating under the explosions, and a fall of ash on Chonglotus.
The blasts intensified on 16 and 17.08, accompanied by ash falls on the west of the volcano.
The sounds produced by the Tungurahua can be heard from Ambato, about thirty kilometers, from where our friend José Luis sends us pictures of the eruptive plume.
