The activity of Cotopaxi during the day of 22 August 2015 was marked by continued emissions, moderately loaded in ash. The ashes were scattered in the west-northwest direction; the plume is mounted up to 2,000 meters above the crater. Ashfalls are reported on the sectors of Mulalo, Chaupi, Lasso, Machachi, Aloag and Tambillo.
At seismicity level, 10 earthquakes LP and 75 tremor episodes were recorded between 6am and 18pm local time. On the same time, the average concentrations of sulfur dioxide were 1.228 ton / day (79 DOAS measurements)

Volcanic ashes has negative effects on crops and livestock. The government, which declared a state of emergency for 60 days, sent emergency food aid in the area for cattle, and refines the evacuation plans and care for people who would be affected by an event major.
