Piton de la Fournaise - the active cone view from the Piton Bert camera - 09.04.2015 / 24:29 TU -doc. OVPF / IPGP

The eruption that began August 24 continues.
The pedestrian recognition achieved on 3 septembtre by OVPF shows that the phenomenon is still very active on the site. There is always observed numerous projections and the lava flow continue to thicken the lava field about 2 km long.

A single eruptive mouth continues to operate. A cone, the top of a twenty meters, is occupied by a lava lake, where exploding bubbles of gaz project the lava about twenty meters above the cone.
Many ephemeral mouths are periodically visible all along the tunnel that holds the casting for the first 50 to 100m.The lava escapes over 1,000 meters to the south.

The RSAM, reflecting the seismic energy of the event, experiencing a new rise for about 24 hours.
