To recall, if necessary, it is always active thirty years after his last deadly eruption, the Nevado del Ruiz present a seismic activity reflecting its instability.

Increasing of  LP earthquakes, associated with fluid dynamics in volcanic conduits, and short tremor are reported on 4 and 5 November in the NW and SW sectors of Arenas crater at a depth of between 2.85 and 8, 33 km. The highest magnitude 3.1 ML was reported on November 8 at 10:48 p.m. local at 3.79 km deep.

Some earthquakes accompanying gas emissions, which are detected high concentrations of sulfur dioxide, and ashes.

On 14 November, tremor pulses are always record, one was accompanied at 5:37 loc., by brown ash emission amount to 1,300 meters before dispersing towards NO.
