In Turrialba, Costa Rica, the scientists studied the ash and gas after its last eruption in early November, and confirm that volcanic activity is caused by rising of magma, that puts his hydrothermal system under pressure. The proportion of recent lava fragmented increases over time: in 2010 the ash contained 2%; the concentration rises to 9% in 2013 and to over 20% today. The deformation of the volcano is also noted.

The eruption of Tungurahua, which began in Ecuador in 1999, make problems.

The ash falls essentially mark the west of the volcano and the villages and agricultural areas most affected are Choglontus, El Manzano and Quero.

The volcanologist Viviana Valverde of IG explains the phenomenon: a large magma volume is gently  ventilated because the ducts of Tungurahua are completely open, allowing the emission of large steam plumes with an ash content qualified as moderate, amount to 4,500 meters above the crater on 15 November. It states that small pyroclastic flows could be caused by an accumulation of volcanic material around the top.

The Jakarta Globe reports an increase in the alert level of Marapi volcano, on the island of Sumatra.

Saturday, November 14 at 10:33 p.m., pyroclastic flows are issued from the dome; This activity continued on Sunday morning. This activity, together with a series of minor earthquakes is considered as low, but the authorities have advised to keep out of a three km radius zone around the crater.
