Popocatépetl introduced over the past 24 hours 40 exhalations and a few explosions. The largest took place on April 3 at 20:31, accompanied by an ash plume 2,000 meters above the crater and incandescent impact mainly on the slopes east and south up to 3,500 meters distance; these fall have generated some fires in the higher wooded areas.

SERNAGEOMIN raised the level of alert of Villarica in Amarillo, due to an increase in seismicity associated with magma movement in the ducts of the volcano. The surface activity, visible on webcams, consists of incandescent and Strombolian explosions, was up too.
The authorities considered that, due to possible ballistic projections, the area of one kilometer radius around the crater is considered as high risk.
