In Nicaragua, the San Cristobal volcano, also known as El Viejo, the oldest volcano of the country presented this April 22, 2016 three strong explosions, respectively at 10:20, 10:22 ET 10:27. An ash rain followed on communities surrounding the volcano.
In Masaya, the lava lake continues its usual activity, with a slight increase in the amount of emitted gas.The south and southwest edges of the crater Santiago show an instability; the possibility of collapse, where is located the Mirador 2, have caused the closure of the volcano park, as a precaution.
The other volcanoes, Momotombo, Telica, Cerro Negro and Concepcion, have a qualified usual activity.

In Mexico, glow was observed during the night of 22 April to the crater of Popocatepetl, increasing during exhalations.
The seismic networks of Popocatepetl recorded 117 low intensity exhalations in 24 hours, accompanied by water vapor emissions. The volcano has been under a heavy cloud cover, which prevented direct observation before the end of the afternoon.
The Colima continues its typical activity, with periods of calm interrupted by small explosions.
