On June 3, at 7:44 local, a small explosion, accompanied by an emission of ash amount about 400 meters occurred in Gunung Kerinci. (Volcanodiscovery).

The PVMBG signals a new episode this June 5 at 6:04 local, with an emission of ash 800 meters.

Kerinci is the highest Indonesian volcano, with its 3,800 meters, and is located on the island of Sumatra. A young cone was built NE on the remains of an ancient crater. The current wide summit crater of 600 meters is often partially filled with a small crater lake.

In Santiaguito, the constant rains caused moderate hot lahars towards the Rio Nima, that can increase in power; a strong smell of sulfur that accompanies lahar, where blocks of 50 cm-1 m. mingle with trunks, branches and ashes from the volcano. The recent activity of the volcano has indeed accumulated ash in the drainages of Angel Cabello and Nima rios.
