In Mexico, Colima and Popocatépetl volcanoes continue their activity.
CENAPRED reports at Popocatépetl, over the past 24 hours, 202 exhalations, 3 explosions vocano 4-tectonic earthquakes and tremor 42 minutes. The alert level remains Amarillo fase 2.
The Nevado del Ruiz had, after issuing of ashes on June 27 at 8:22 am, a new episode of major volcanic tremor on June 28 at 7:48 local. The plume rose about 850 meters, observable from Manizales.
These explosions reflect the instability of the hydrothermal system of the volcano, and do not directly involve fresh magma, although it is the indirect cause of system temperature rise.

The Ovsicori indicates a high amplitude tremor episode on June 28 at 9:25 p.m. local to Turrialba. Weather conditions did not permit to directly observe the emission of ash, which doivraient deposit in the Central Valley in the prevailing winds blowing toward the southwest.
