Poas activity on 12 July is limited to degassing, with a gas plume reaching 500 meters before moving south-west. Seismicity includes few LP earthquakes, some volcano-tectonic earthquakes, the largest of which is magnitude 2.4 at 18:11 local localized west of the crater, as well as a moderate amplitude tremor signal. No sulfur smell n Is reported.
Since April 22, the pressure is maintained at a high level, however the strong degassing allows to contain and to reduce the speed of inflation. Since the first major eruption on 12 April, sulfur dioxide flux has reached 2,000 tons / day, one of the highest rates seen since the 1980s.
Significant morphological changes marked the Poas crater, and any color disappeared in the Poas crater and its ash - laden surroundings.
