The explosive activity continues at Ebeko, in the Kuril Islands.
Observations from Severo-Kurilsk show a plume of ash rising to more than 2,500 m asl, before drifting northeast; the explosions are followed by moderate emissions of gas and vapor, sometimes accompanied by ash.
The Ebeko is on aviation alert orange.

The Japanese authorities warn of the possibility of larger eruptions and pyroclastic flows at Shinmoedake, after an increase in the gases emitted.
Roads and trails around the volcano have been closed.
A strengthening of the control instruments is in place and should be operational today.

At the Rincon de La Vieja, volcanic tremor has been recorded since 12 September 2017.
Between October 15 and 16, the seismographs recorded spasmodic volcanic tremor signals with harmonic character and frequencies with dominant peaks between 1.2 and 2.1 Hz associated with fluid movements within volcano that disrupt the hydrothermal system feeding the lake and the sources around the volcano.
