An overview of Kirishimayama on April 19 shows the evolution of these eruptive sites: Ebino Ywoyama and Shinmoedake.

New vents opened in the SSE part of Ywoyama, accompanied by emissions of white gas and vapor plumes, ranging from 5 to 400 meters.

The muddy water emitted flows from the group of vents to the Yangtze River; seen from the air, the ash deposits extend 500 meters southwest of the vents.

The summit of Shinmoedake has not changed much since April 5th. The fumaroles have a restricted volume.

A crater is visible in the center of the dome, with a depth estimated at about 50 meters or more. The walls of the crater show a reddish color, in relation with the oxidation at high temperature.

On Ambae, concerns are mainly about evacuation and permanent resettlement.

It was agreed that off-island evacuation will initially focus on the two Penama islands: Pentecost and Maewo.

The chiefs of Maewo, the nearby island, offered their lands to Ambae families affected by ongoing volcanic activity.

These plots are located in Sanasum south Maewo, Ulu in the center, Naruru and Lolruhu in the north.

The Maewo chiefs made this impressive offer following a custom ceremony performed by the Ambae chiefs, as part of the resolution to secure the permanent facility.

The leaders of Pentecost Island said that they needed to reconfirm their decision; however, the leaders of the Pangi region have indicated a sufficient piece of land to accommodate from 1000 to 3000 people, DG Benjamin said yesterday at Pentecost.

A summary of volcanic activity on Ambae is available on the Vanuatu Daily website by clicking on this link.

No news of the eruption of Kadovar, but a photo Sentinel 2 show the incandescent point to the new coastal vent, and the discolored plume at sea.
