At Merapi, on Java, the BPPTKG recorded for May 20 at 3:37 pm WIB, an earthquake linked to a pyroclastic flow observed over a distance of 1,100 meters towards Kali Gendol. The seismographic recording shows a max. 65 mm of amplitude, with a duration of 118 seconds.
In addition, 52 avalanche earthquakes, 14 hybrid earthquakes, 4 blast earthquakes and 4 low frequency earthquakes have been recorded.
The activity level remains at 2 / waspada, with a prohibited area of 3 km radius.

In Sabancaya / Peru, observatories cover, for the period from 13 to 19 May 2019, about 1,800 earthquakes of volcanic origin, associated with the movement of magmatic fluids.
During this week, an average of 33 explosions per day of moderate to low intensity was observed. No significant anomalies of deformation. The visual surveillance, using surveillance cameras, identified the presence of eruptive columns up to 2.5 km high at the top of the volcano, whose ashes were dispersed to the NW, N and NE areas of the Sabancaya volcano. Satellite monitoring has identified the presence of 10 thermal anomalies with values between 1 and 40 MW, associated with the presence of a hot body near the surface and the continuous occurrence of explosions.
