The PVMBG reports a thick white-gray plume 200-600 meters from the summit, and an episode of continuous tremor with an amplitude of 0.5 to 8mm, dominant at 2mm.

At Merapi, the week of May 15 to 21, 2020 was calm.
The BPPTKG reports a stable condition for the dome. The alert level remains at 2 / waspada; the seismicity remains low, with a superstructure on 20.05.
Potential dangers are currently in the form of pyroclastic flows in connection with the collapse of the lava dome, as well as possible explosive eruptions.
