The latest reports for the local and communal disaster prevention coordinators -COLRED and COMRED- indicate the presence of 2 lava flows in the Pacaya volcano.

Monitoring is carried out by the Volcanic Prevention Unit -UPV- of the Executive Secretariat of the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction -SE-CONRED-, which reports that the lava flows are directed north and southwest, respectively over 350 and 800 meters long.

A white and blue plume is observed above the Mackenney crater. At the same time, there is ashfall in the village of Los Pocitos, Villa Canales, Guatemala.

According to the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology - INSIVUMEH -, in its volcanological bulletin, on the night of Sunday October 25 to the morning of Monday October 26, Strombolian explosions were recorded between 50 and 250 meters above from the crater.

Between October 19 and 25, the Sabancaya continued his eruptive activity at moderate levels, with the continuous recording of explosions at the rate of 37 daily episodes on average, accompanied by columns of ash and gas up to 2.5 km from high to the top of the volcano. Fine ash falls were reported in the districts of Huanca on October 19 and 22, and Lluta on October 19 and 24.

The IGP recorded and analyzed the occurrence of 2,203 earthquakes of volcanic origin, associated with the circulation of magmatic fluids inside the volcano.

During this period, Volcano-Tectonic (VT) earthquakes were mainly localized in areas to the northwest and east of Sabancaya, and had magnitudes between M2.3 and M3.6. The representative earthquake (M3.6) was recorded on October 25 at 12:09 a.m., 24 km northwest of Sabancaya and 13 km deep.

Since October 11, 2020, a process of deflation in the south-eastern sector of Sabancaya has been noted.

Satellite monitoring identified the presence of nine thermal anomalies ranging between 2 MW and 28 MW, which would be associated with the presence of a lava body in the crater.

The alert level remains at Naranja, with a prohibited zone of 12 km.

In the Ryukyu Archipelago, activity at Suwanosejima Mitake Crater continues.

It is characterized by plumes of ash on October 26 at 10:39 pm local reaching 1,500 meters above the crater, and on October 27 at 3:28 am local amounting to 2,000 meters above the crater.

On the evening of October 19, 2020, the cloudless Soufriere Hills lava dome was photographed from the Montserrat / MVO and Jack Boy Hill Observatory.

A series of digital photographs and thermal images were taken at both locations to capture the fumaroles and hot spots on the lava dome.

MVO volcanologist Dr. Adam Stinton explains: " Digital photographs captured an incandescence of three prominent fumaroles in the cliff that forms the back wall of the 2010 collapsed scar.

The composites show thermal images superimposed on digital photographs of the lava dome from MVO and Jack Boy Hill. All images were taken between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

The incandescence recorded in the digital photographs was not visible to the naked eye, even with the use of binoculars. The two digital photographs had an exposure length of 30 seconds.

Comparing these images to the previous ones, there are no changes in the number and distribution of glowing features and hot spots. "
