This November 7, the geologists of Sernageomin in collaboration with the aerial section CarabAraucania carried out the overflight of Villarrica in order to assess the situation of the massif and of the crater in particular, due to the latest explosions. We can see in the photos the inside of the crater covered with pyroclastic material, which also blackened part of the sides of the volcano.
Professionals also repaired a monitoring station.
A phase of Strombolian activity began on the evening of November 7, around 9:35 p.m. incandescent ballistic ejections reached a height of 80 meters, and partially impacted the edges of the crater.
This November 8 at 05:51 local (03:51 UTC) an explosive episode accompanied by incandescence occurred at Villarica; the height of the eruptive column was 220 meters max., with associated incandescence. No seismic signal was observed.
