This Friday, November 5, an overflight of the Popocatépetl volcano was carried out, with the support of the National Guard, expert staff from the Institute of Geology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the National Center for Disaster Reduction (CENAPRED) to check its terms and conditions.
It has been possible to determine that the inner crater has an approximate diameter of 380 to 400 meters and a depth of 160 to 200 meters. The presence of a new lava body inside the crater could not be distinguished.
On the basis of the various monitoring parameters and the information obtained during the overflight, it is considered that the ash emissions will continue as well as explosions not exceeding in intensity those already observed. These scenarios are considered in level amarillo fase 2.
Popocatépetl - at the end of the afternoon on 05.11.2021, emission of gas and ashes - Doc. Cenapred / CNPC / Seguridad
During the last 24 hours, thanks to the monitoring systems of the Popocatépetl volcano, 19 exhalations accompanied by volcanic gases and light amounts of ash have been identified. In addition, 34 minutes of low amplitude tremor and two volcano-tectonic earthquakes were recorded yesterday at 3:27 pm and today at 1:52 am, with respective magnitudes of 1.6 and 2.1.
At 17h GMT, the volcano is observed with an emission of water vapor, gas and light amounts of ash in an easterly direction.

The Karymsky's aviation code went red for a few hours on November 6 from 04:23 UTC, following explosions, accompanied by ash plumes at 7,500-8,000 m.asl. extending over 61 km towards the ESE of the volcano.
The KVERT changed it back to orange at 07:23 UTC, the ashes were only read emitted at 4,000 m. about. However, a cloud of 380 over 92 km continues to drift at an altitude of 6.5-7 km. northeast of Karymsky, with its front located 406 km away at an azimuth of 71 ° for the moment.

During the week of October 29 to November 4, 2021, the Merapi experienced a pyroclastic avalanche flow to the southwest, with a sliding distance of 2,000 m.
Incandescent boulder falls have been observed 106 times to the southwest, with a maximum slide distance of 2,000 m.
No significant morphological change was observed, neither in the southwest dome, nor in the central dome. The volume of the southwest lava dome is 1,610,000 m³ and that of the central dome is 2,927,000 m³.
This week's seismicity is lower than last week.
The deformation of Mount Merapi which was monitored using EDM and GPS this week showed no significant changes.

This November 5, the eruptive and seismic activity of Cumbre Vieja on the island of La Palma were lower
The lava flows remain active, without modification or assignment of new territories. One of the southern flows is about a hundred meters from the LP-211 road towards Puerto Naos, still open with traffic restrictions
So far, they have covered an area of almost 10 square kilometers and destroyed 2,581 homes.
The ash emission has diminished during the afternoon, but gases continue to be emitted.

Sulfur is deposited from these gas emissions in the northeastern part of the crater. These elemental sulfur deposits appear for the first time. A reaction with H2S to form sulfur, would imply that the magmatic component of the gas decreases and that the emission of H2S increases. This fact does NOT imply the end of the eruption, but a clear change in its dynamics.
