In Ecuador, thermal anomalies follow one another at the Wolf volcano on Isabela Island.

Surface and internal activity levels remain high, unchanged.

Thanks to the images provided by the GOES-16 satellite, thermal anomalies can be observed due to the effect of the advance of the lava, which has still not reached the coast.

No seismic event has been recorded at the volcano in the past 24 hours.

The FIRMS system recorded 81 thermal anomalies in the last 24 hours. (at 16.03.2022 / 11 a.m.); Similarly, the MIROVA system recorded 2 high thermal anomalies (1743 and 1373 MW) and 2 high (124 MW and 532 MW) in the last 24 hours.

The MOUNTS system recorded 0.1 tons of SO2, on March 14 at 19:00: 10 TL.Observation: Thanks to the images provided by the GOES-16 satellite, thermal anomalies can be observed due to the effect of the advance lava.

The Santiaguito Volcano Observatory reports volcanic activity, with white outgassing 800 meters above the crater extending west and southwest.

At night, incandescence was observed in the crater of the Caliente dome and in the lava flows in the west and south-west directions. Weak avalanches of blocks and ash continue to be recorded on the western and southwestern flanks, these avalanches reaching the base of the Caliente dome.

The volcano maintains high activity due to blocky lava extrusion in the Caliente dome in a west-southwest direction and unstable material in the crater. There is a likelihood of moderate to strong pyroclastic flows, so do not stay near or in riverbeds near the slopes of the volcano.

Bad news for volcanophiles on site:

Attack on the Tajumulcon volcano in Guatemala. It is within sight of Santiaguito. Gangs attack tourists. A girl was injured. The fact that something like this is starting again is partly due to the new poverty caused by the pandemic. I was also told that there are more thefts from cars/buses at night."  (Marc Szeglat)

Updated temperatures data recorded on the rim of the La Fossa crater at Vulcano show stable values and confirm the continuation of the thermal anomaly. On the internal side, the values are always stable at 114°C.

Vulcano - temperatures of fumaroles iner La Fossa and on the edge of crater - INGV OE at 03.15.2022

The CO2 flux in the crater area remains at high values. The CO2 flux at the base of the La Fossa cone and in the Vulcano Porto area: CO2 fluxes recorded in the Rimessa, C. Sicilia and P4max sites, they remain at medium-high values; on the Faraglione site they are recorded at basic values.
SO2 flux at a medium-high level and decreasing
The concentrations of magmatic gases (CO2, He) in the fumaroles are decreasing, and are at medium-high levels.
Geochemistry of thermal aquifers: the physicochemical parameters recorded in Camping Sicilia e Bambara did not show significant variations, remaining stable at high values.
Local seismicity: low rate of occurrence of local events.
Regional seismicity: No earthquake with Ml >= 1.0 was located in the area of the island of Vulcano.
The network of permanent GNSS and clinometric stations did not record significant changes in deformation.

An eruptive episode occurred at Suwanosejima (Mitake crater) at 10:01 p.m. on March 16, 2022, and the eruption plume rose 1,400 m above the crater rim.

Volcanic ash was carried east from the crater, and within an hour there was a fairly large amount of ash falling in Toshima village.

The eruptive phase continues.
