The IGEPN reports for Sangay on May 29, 2022 a high surface and internal activity, with no expected change.

The seismicity is declined in 119 LP earthquakes, 47 explosion earthquakes, and an earthquake in connection with a lahar. Yesterday afternoon there was rain in the area which generated a drop of muddy water in the area.

The ash plumes were obscured by a cloudy sector.
However, the Washington VAAC reported 3 emissions from 870 meters above crater level with southwest and west directions.

The I.G.Peru informs that between May 23 and 29, 2022, Sabancaya volcano maintained an eruptive activity of moderate level, with an average of 15 explosions per day, accompanied by plumes of ash and gas reaching 2,000 m. above the top.

Seismicity is characterized by 251 earthquakes of volcanic origin, associated with the circulation of internal magmatic fluids and VT earthquakes, linked to rock fracturing.

No significant deformation anomaly.

Nine thermal anomalies, from max. 28 MW, are identified, associated with the presence of a lava dome in the crater; today it measures about 210 m. over 169 m.

The alert level is maintained at naranja, with an inaccessible zone of 12 km radius around the crater.

No eruption is reported at Turrialba. The seismic activity is higher, compared to yesterday.
At the time of the report of 30.05.2022 / 11:28, the winds are blowing towards the west.
Significant degassing is observed in the active crater, in addition to two points of incandescence on its inner southwest wall. The SO2 concentration is relatively stable (0.62 ppm). The volcanic edifice is in contraction and deflation.

An observer on the spot denounces the financial scams practiced by pseudo-guides to go up to the supervised forbidden zone.

An incandescent glow overcoming the Villarica volcano could be seen with the naked eye on the morning of May 30, 2022. Intense fumaroles and the absence of wind at height favored the phenomenon.

Two active lava pits are reported near the bottom of the crater.

Last week, the Icelandic Met Office reported that 14 earthquakes measuring M3.0 or more had been detected. Most of them occurred on the Reykjanes Peninsula, which is experiencing earthquake swarms linked to the uplift of the Svartsengi power station and Mount Þorbjörn. This inflation has been confirmed by both GPS sensors and satellite imagery. The largest earthquake on Reykjanes at the time of writing was M3.5 on 18th May. Another M3.2 earthquake occurred north of Mount Þorbjörn on Sunday.

According to the Met Office, seismic unrest on the peninsula increases the likelihood of a large earthquake (M6.0 - M6.5) in the Brennisteinsfjöll mountains.

The Svartsengi power station, the main energy producer on the peninsula, could be in danger if an eruption occurs in the region... it provides hot water and electricity to 30,000 people. It is important to have alternate water sources ready for area residents. The construction of "Suðurneslína 2", a long-debated power line that would run from Grindavík to the outskirts of Hafnarfjörður, is being considered by the Government.
