Activity remains intense in Sangay, Ecuador.

Surface and internal activity levels remain high, and unchanged.
Ash and gas rich plumes were being generated from the summit crater, reaching ca. 7,000 m altitude throughout the day on August 24. Ash emissions spread to the west and southwest of the volcano.

For August 25, the VAAC Washington common ic ash emissions at 1,770 m. above the crater, heading west.
Near-constant glow and small intermittent Strombolian eruptions continued to be seen in the summit vent overnight. Incandescent materials are ejected above the crater, spraying the upper part of the building with incandescent slag. Much of the material falls into the main drainage forming glowing avalanches.

Sulfur dioxide emissions hit 690 tonnes yesterday.

Seismicity at 24.08 / 10 a.m.: Explosión (EXP) 183 Largo Período (LP) 45 Tremor de Emisión (TREMI) 49.

Seismicity at 25.08 / 11 a.m.: Explosión (EXP) 445 Largo Período (LP) 6 Tremor de Emisión (TREMI) 63.

The alert remained in Amarilla

The activity of the Reventador is moderate, with a total of 49 explosion earthquakes, 35 LP earthquakes, 4 periods of harmonic tremor and one of emission tremor.

On August 24, several gas and ash emissions were observed with heights of up to 500 meters in a northwest direction. The Washington VAAC recorded 4 ash releases with heights of 988 m to 1638 m, the direction oscillated from northwest to southwest.

For August 25, 3 ash emissions at 1,638 m. above the crater are provided by VAAC Washington.

During the night and early in the morning, an incandescence could be observed at the level of the crater with the descent of blocks along the northeast flank up to 500 meters below the summit, today morning it rose clear and an ash emission was observed 300 meters high above the crater to the northwest, then covered until now

The alert level is Naranja.

A moderate eruptive activity of the volcano continues at Ebeko. According to visual data from Severo-Kurilsk volcanologists, an explosion sent ash up to 3.5 km a.s.l., an ash cloud drifted northeast from the volcano.

Moderate eruptive activity of the volcano continues. Ash explosions up to 6 km (19,700 ft) above sea level could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect low-flying aircraft and Severo-Kurilsk airport.

Note that for August 26, 2022, the KVERT informs 5 volcanoes in orange level alert: Chikurachki, Klyuchevskoy, sheveluch, Karymsky and Ebeko, and a volcano in yellow alert, Bezymianny.

There have been no significant changes in seismic activity under or around Taʻū and Ofu-Olosega islands since yesterday's update. USGS personnel installed two advanced seismometers on the island of Taʻū and another is being installed on the island of Ofu today. USGS seismic experts are currently reviewing and assessing the quality of the data as it becomes available.
Over the past few days, about 20 earthquakes per hour have been recorded. Although the exact number is not available, the number of earthquakes recorded in the past 24 hours appears to be slightly lower. Preliminary estimates place the source of the earthquakes closer to the island of Taʻū than to Ofu-Olosega. The estimated magnitudes of most of the largest earthquakes are between magnitudes 2 and 3.

American Samoa is developing plans for the rapid evacuation of residents of the Manu'a Islands in the event that the ongoing earthquakes become a security concern.
Homeland Security Director Samana Semo Veavea, who is also the territorial coordination officer, told KHJ News that there are two evacuation plans. One is for evacuation within 24 hours and the other is an immediate evacuation of island residents.
Manu'a's sirens have been tested and the escape routes cleared.
