The INGV-OE reports that the monitoring networks recorded at 11:15 (09:15 UTC), the start of an overflow of lava from the northern crater of Stromboli; this overflow caused lava material to roll along the Sciara del Fuoco. The poorly fed lava front remains at the base of the NE crater.
From the seismic point of view, there is no significant variation in the amplitude of the volcanic tremor.
There are currently no significant changes in the ground deformations measured by the GNSS network.

Following an increase in flow, the lava flow, which developed along the Sciara del Fuoco, reached the coast at 12:30 p.m. (10:30 UTC).

After the episode of September 29, this is the second overflow in a few days at Stromboli.

In the northeast, the KVERT communicates for this October 3

Moderate eruptive activity of the Ebeko volcano continues. According to visual data from Severo-Kurilsk volcanologists, explosions sent ash up to 3 km a.s.l., ash clouds drifted north and northeast from the volcano. Satellite data from KVERT showed that the volcano was obscured by clouds.

The Aviation Color Code is Orange.

A moderate explosive-effusive eruption of the Alaid volcano continues. According to visual data, a lava flow began flowing down the southern slope of the volcano on September 27-28. Satellite data from KVERT showed a bright thermal anomaly over the volcano.

At Piton de La Fournaise on October 3, the amplitude of the eruptive tremor (indicator of an emission of lava and gas on the surface) has remained stable over the past 24 hours.

Over the past 24 hours, 75 volcano-tectonic earthquakes have been recorded directly above the summit area.

The data from the permanent GNSS stations of the OVPF-IPGP no longer show signals associated with a significant deformation of the building.

The images from the webcam located at Piton de Bert show:
- a lava projection activity which is still significant at the level of the eruptive vent;
- the secondary vent, located on the southern flank of the cone, which is weakly active
- significant degassing persists at the eruptive site.
- the majority of lava flows are always done by lava tunnels within which many resurgences are visible up to several kilometers from the eruptive cone.

The lava flow estimates established by satellite method on the HOTVOLC (OPGC - Clermont Auvergne University) and MIROVA (University of Turin) platforms indicate a stable average flow over the last 24 hours of 10 m³/s (between 4 and 20 m³/ s depending on the method) with a peak recorded at 33 m³/s. The thermal anomalies reported by Mirova remain very high.

Over the last 5 days, the estimated lava flows are increasing together with the intensification of the tremor observed from September 29.

Alert level remains at Alert 2-1 (Access to the Enclosure prohibited; eruption in the Enclosure without any particular threat to the safety of persons, property or the environment)

A press point "ongoing eruption" will be proposed by the Volcanological Observatory of Piton de La Fournaise (OVPF) / Institute of Physics of the Globe (IPGP), on Tuesday October 4, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Cité du Volcan in Bourg Murat.

The increase in superficial seismicity under the summit from August 28, 2022 and the inflation of the volcanic edifice which has continued almost continuously since the end of the December 2021-January 2022 eruption, witnessed the replenishment and pressurization of the superficial magmatic reservoir by upwellings of deep fluids.

This replenishment of the superficial reservoir and its pressurization led first to the September 7 intrusion which did not reach the surface, then to the September 19, 2022 eruption at 7:48 (local time, 3:48 UTC) on the flank south of the volcano inside the Enclos Fouqué caldera. The eruption is still ongoing as of this writing.
