After remaining at a high level of activity during the past week, Fuego volcano / Guatemala produced on June 4 two lava flows, long of 400 to 700 meters.

On June 5, at 4:25 local, Fuego was rocked by an explosion accompanied by a rising ash plume 5,000 meters asl, before moving to a large south and west sector. Civil aviation is warned of possible risks associated with ashes.

An effusive eruption began, and powered two lava flows: the first towards the barranca Trinidad, south, 1,300 meters long, the second to the north-west and the barranca Santa Teresa, 600 m long  (05.06 / locale 9:10).

The activity is accompanied by a locomotive like noise, audible over 7 km.

The alert level is kept at Amarillo, and classified as moderate, but the situation can change with probability of pyroclastic flows in the ravines.
