After the intense but very short paroxysm of 28 December 2014, which began around 5:50 p.m. and ending at 21h, with fountains and lava flows towards east and northeast, and lapilli fallout on Milo, Fornazzo, San Alfio and Giarre, the volcano has recovered to emit large amounts of ash that January 2, 2015.
The strong wind slept the ash column on the southwest flank, and justified the closure of Catania airport.
For now, there is only a small increase (stable) of tremor.
