On Java, the dome of Merapi has a light degassing at about fifty meters above the summit, and a night incandescence, suggesting a tongue of hot debris from the dome towards the crater notch.

At the seismicity level, the PVMBG reports for December 19th, 58 volcanic earthquakes, 14 earthquakes of emission, 6 hybrid earthquakes, and 9 earthquakes of low frequency.

The activity level remains at 2 / wasapada, with a prohibited area of ​​3 km.

In Iceland, an important seismic swarm marks the Herðubreið, a tuya (table mountain) connected to the active volcanic system of the Askja.

The seismic activity started on December 18th at 9:21 am, and is concentrated a few kilometers south-east of the Herðubreið. Approximately 200 earthquakes have been counted since the beginning of activity, most of them under the level of magnitude 3.

They are likely of a tectonic nature (the cause is not formally identified), the Herðubreið being considered extinct, having been formed in a single eruption dated 10-11,000 years ago, towards the end of the last glaciation.

After small, regular eruptions lasting a few weeks, followed by a complete break, the Kuchinoerabujima's Shindake crater in the Ryuku arc, south of Japan, showed a strong explosive eruption accompanied by a shock wave perceived at the port of Honmura 2 km from the crater, this December 18 at 16:37;

the ash plume reached 2,000 meters before entering the cloud layer, and a pyroclastic flow ran a distance of 1,000 meters on the west flank.

A small avalanche of debris is observed this December 19 at 12:30 local level from the summit dome of Merapi / on the island of Java.

The level of activity of the volcano remains at 2 / waspada, this phenomenon being considered in the norm in a phase of growth of a dome.

In Peru, Sabancaya presented a moderate eruptive activity during the week of December 10 to 16, with an average of 18 explosions per day; they were accompanied by plumes of ash and gas reaching a maximum of 2,200 meters above the crater, before dispersing over 40 km in a west-southwest sector.

The flow of sulfur dioxide remained high with a maximum of 3,100 tonnes / day on December 13th.

Five thermal anomalies, between 2 and 18 MW, were recorded.

Seismicity is characterized by LP earthquakes associated with fluid motions and low energetic hybrid earthquakes, associated with magmatic ascension.

At Merapi, on the island of Java, an avalanche of lava is reported on December 16 at 7:08 pm EST; it remained confined in the upper 300 meters of the volcano, above Kali Gendol.

Dec 16 2018 - A new fissure has opened up on Ambrym Island. Recorded by John Tasso

The Vanuatu Geohazards Observatory has raised the volcanic alert level of the Ambrym / Vanuatu volcano to 3 / minor eruption.

Observations and analysis of seismic data confirm a flank eruption in the caldera near the crater Marum this December 15 from 6am. The activity consists of lava flows and lava fountains, with emissions of gas and ash, visible and audible by the population of Ambrym and neighboring islands.

The security zone is 2 km around Benbow and 4 km around the Marum, including the three active lava lakes, where volcanic gases and ashes can be present in abundance. The villages north and northwest of Ambrym are particularly exposed.

This Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 17:00 WITA, the seismic data of Soputan / North Sulawesi, indicate a rapid and significant increase. The seismicity continues to increase then and on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 01:02, an earthquake occurs with a maximum amplitude of 40 mm (oversized) with a duration of 598 seconds, accompanied by thunderous sounds heard until the observation post of the volcano Soputan located in Silian Raya (about 10 km southwest of G. On Sunday, December 16, 2018, at approximately 3:09 am, incandescent emissions above the summit of Gunung Soputan were observed, accompanied by an eruptive column at ± 3,000 m above the summit (± 4,809 m above sea level). from the sea), gray and thick inclined to the southeast.

At 0540, the gray and thick ash column was ± 7000 m above the summit (± 8 809 m above sea level), extending to the southeast.

A VONA was published twice on December 16, 2018: at 04:00 WITA with color code ORANGE and at 5:54 WITA with a color code RED. Until now, continuous tremor continued to be recorded with the maximum amplitude (overshoot) indicating that the eruption activity was still in progress.

The status of G. Soputan is still at Level III (Alert) with a danger zone, which is a 4 km radius and a sectoral expansion southwest of 6.5 km.

The population around the volcano is encouraged to prepare masks of protection for the mouth and nose to avoid the potential danger of volcanic ash for the respiratory system. Drainage residents upstream of Soputan should be aware of the potential threat of lahars, especially during the rainy season.

As part of monitoring the seismic crisis affecting Mayotte since last May, an OVPF-IPGP mission is on-site to measure the flow and composition of ground-based gases and to sample emissions; sampling of lava and pumice from Petite Terre eruptions will also be carried out.

The construction of the island was completed 1.5 Ma ago with the contributions of the M'tsapéré volcano. More recent volcanism has marked the Cavani, Kawéni and Petite terre depressions with eruptions up to 6,000 BP. Since then, the island has been subject to erosion.

In Guatemala, Insivumeh reports important changes in the eruptive behavior of the Pacaya: Strombolian explosions are accompanied by ejections 25-50 meters high, a lava flow towards Cerro Chio on the northwest flank, 200-300 meters long, incandescent avalanches, and moderate fallout within a radius of 8 km.

The construction of the intracrateric cone continues and fills the Mackenney crater; its height would soon exceed 75 meters in height above the edge.

This activity suggests the possibility of lava flows in larger quantities and the beginning of a new eruptive phase.

At Etna, the Puttusiddu's activity of the new south-east crater continues; it feeds two lava flows of a few hundred meters in the direction of the Valle del Bove, issued on the one hand by the new cinder cone, on the other hand a mouth located a little under the rim of the crater.

The effusive activity seems to be maintained, while the Strombolian explosive activity has been decreasing for a few days.

At dusk on December 13, the reflections of the lava create luminous halos that reverberated on the clouds covering a part of the summits, coming to magnify the light on the day of Santa Lucia of Syracuse.

The Krakatau presented this 14 December at 2:15 pm WIB an eruptive episode, which was accompanied by a thick and black ash plume to 200 m. about above the summit, leaning to the northeast. The seismic amplitude of the episode is 57 mm max. and a duration of 48 seconds.

On December 13th, the PVMBG reported 22 earthquakes of eruption, 37 earthquakesof emission, 67 episodes of harmonic tremor and a continuous tremor of dominant at 3 mm. No recent pictures, because of the fog.

The level of activity remains at 2 / waspada, with a 2 km radius ban.

As a bonus, a video of Yohannes Tyas Galih Jati from September 2018, illustrating an explosive activity of two nearby vents, and the lava flows.

Servicio Geologico Colombiano has issued an activity bulletin for the week of 4 to 10 December in Nevado del Huila, in activity level 3 / amarillo / behavioral change of volcanic activity.

The seismicity was marked by 226 earthquakes, of which 118 VT type in relation to the fragmentation of rocks, and 148 earthquakes, LP in majority, related to the dynamics of the internal fluids. The images of the webcams shows a degassing during the week.

The volcano continues to exhibit stable behavior.

In Costa Rica, sporadic ash eruptions have persisted in Turrialba for a few days, accompanied by plumes up to 500 meters above the crater.

The variable winds carried the ashes northward in the early hours of December 12, before turning south-west, where the Central Valley was again affected.

A small explosion was detected by the local seismic network in Cleveland, in Aleutian Islands, on 12 December at 11:53 am AKST / 20:53 UTC, justifying a watch / orange warning adjustment.

The weather conditions did not allow the observation of a cloud of ashes.

No significant activity was detected in the previous days.

On the island-volcano of Manam, Papua New Guinea, a satellite image of December 11 shows two hot spots, corresponding to the two summit craters. Mirova reports a small thermal anomaly of 9 MW on December 12th.

The people of Manam silently mobilized last week and filed a human rights complaint against the government for having placed them in health centers for nearly 15 years.

Local government president Kenny Boli said residents of Manam were living peacefully before the 2004 volcanic eruption when they were transferred to health centers in Potsdam, Bom, Daigul, Asuramba and Mangem.

He added that the villagers of Baliau and Dugulava had been involved in tribal fighting with residents of Bogia and had been forced to return to the volcanic island to settle.

The planning director of Madang Province said that the National Treasury issued a mandate of 2,000,000 KAR for the resettlement planning process, but no cash amount was released.

The population has been tired of living in health centers for 14 years and has now started legal proceedings.

In Kilauea, the HVO does not signal big changes. Ashes are remobilized in the summit area by the winds.

Seismicity is low at the summit, and in the eastern rift zone. A small inflation marks the bottom of the rift zone from Pu'u O'o.

A summary of the 2018 eruption has been published in Science, which concludes that this eruption was the largest of the last 200 years, with in four months, with 0.83 km³ of lava emitted over a surface of 37.5 km² , and adds more than one square kilometer of new land.

The data provided by the control instruments provided a good insight into how the magma moved, the pressure drop at the top and the collapse of Pu'u O'o and Halema ' uma'u.

Volcanologist Mike Poland said that although Kilauea would remain silent for the next 20 years, there would be no problem for scientists. ... or the Fuego surveillance work by a team from the University of Liverpool, Sheffield and Insivumeh in October - December.

The members of this team traveled more than 1,400 km to visit all the seismic stations and infrasonic measurement sites, and worked on the seismic stations Fg10 and FG11; they used UV cameras, thermal imaging cameras and overflights by drones of volcanoes and barrancas crossed to access them.

A statement from Rabaul volcano observatory about the Manam eruption on December 8, 2018 reveals that the volcanic system is still dynamic and has potential for future activity. In fact, the volcano showed three eruptions in four months, as well as other signs of its activity: plumes of ash, audible noises and incandescence.

The GVP reports gray-brown plumes on October 2, and brown or dark gray ash emissions in the period of October 2 to 12, 2018.

The observatory recommends that people take precautions concerning possible mudslides, and avoid doing activities in the four main drainage valleys.

In Kanlaon / Philippines, seismicity is characterized by volcanic earthquakes (29 reported by Phivolcs on December 9, 16 on December 10, and 17 on December 11).

Moderate emissions of plumes loaded with steam are observed.

The deformation data reflect a pronounced inflation since December 2017, and confirm a pressurization of the volcano. Sulfur dioxide emissions remain moderate, with 101 tonnes / day on 09.12.

The alert level remains at 2 / moderate instability ... will this magmatic intrusion lead to an eruption or not?

A change of color is reported by the rangers of the Poas Park: the acidic lake has changed from its usual turquoise color to  green tinged with yellow.

Maria Martinez, geochemist at Ovsicori, explains this change, unusual for two centuries, by the injection of sulfur dioxide by sub-lacustrine fumaroles, and the incidence of visible blue light that combines with the yellow of sulfur with as result, the current green tint.

Laguna Caliente has a greater or lesser degree of degassing, masking its surface at times. No eruptions are reported, and the activity remains similar to the previous days.

The Turrialba is the seat on December 8 and 9 of various eruptive episodes; among these, on December 8 at 7:49, an episode was accompanied by a plume of ash and gas 800 meters above the summit.

On December 9, Ovsicori reported an eruption at 6:52 local time, accompanied by a plume of ash 1,000 meters above the active crater.

Ash falls are reported on the Central Valley, affecting various places in the national parks of Turrialba and Irazu volcanoes, including Coronado, San Jerónimo, Granadilla, Guadalupe, Ipís, Moravia, Tibás, San José, Pavas, Zapote, San Pedro, Sabanilla , Heredia, San Isidro, Santo Domingo, San Rafael, Santa Bárbara, Barva, Alajuela, etc.

A VAAC Darwin Ash dispatch an advisory showing  their impact on Halmahera Island, with the southwesterly and southerly winds.

The PVMBG recorded for 09.12. 2018, 6 emission earthquakes, and continuous tremor with a dominant amplitude at 2 mm (amplitude 0.5 - 5 mm)

The activity level remains at 2 / waspada, with a no-go zone of 2 km radius around the Malupang Warirang crater.

At Popocatépetl, the last 24 hours are marked by 55 low intensity exhalations and 4 explosions, respectively 08.12 on 12:27, and on 09.12 at 01:39, 07:51 and 10:35, accompanied by plumes of ash between 1,300 and 2,000 meters, and ejection of incandescent fragments on the slopes of the volcano.

At the seismicity level, 45 minutes of low amplitude harmonic tremors and 3 volcano-tectonic earthquakes of M 1.5, 2.7 and 2.7 were recorded.
